At Bakery and Tamales Estrada, every tamale is folded by hand, every concha is pressed with the same patience our family has carried for generations. This is not fast food — this is food that remembers where it comes from.
Bakery and Tamales Estrada started as a kitchen table dream and grew into one of Amarillo's most trusted Mexican bakeries. What began as weekend gatherings — neighbors showing up at dawn for fresh tamales — became something the whole community leans on.
Every morning, our team arrives before sunrise. The masa is mixed by hand. The corn husks are soaked. The recados are stirred slowly, the way they always have been. We don't rush it, because the best things in our culture never were.
From our signature tamales to our oven-fresh pan dulce, every item on our counter carries the same promise — real ingredients, real technique, real flavor.
Signature
Our tamales are the heart of everything we do. Pork, chicken, red, green — each one wrapped in corn husk and steamed to perfection, just like Abuela intended.
Daily Fresh
Conchas, orejas, cuernos, cuquis — our bread comes out of the oven every morning. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside. Best with a café de olla.
House Made
Our mole negro is slow-cooked for hours — dark, complex, with layers of chili, chocolate, and spice. Made in small batches so it never loses its depth.
Poblano peppers stuffed with Oaxacan cheese, battered and fried golden, then nestled in a tomato-based recado. A classic done the right way.
Our coffee is brewed the old way — piloncillo, cinnamon, and a hint of citrus in a clay pot. It's the perfect companion to a box of fresh conchas.
For Events
Planning a quinceañera, birthday, or family Sunday? We take orders for half-sheet and full-sheet tamales — enough for the whole familia.

We don't need fancy marketing. Our regulars say it best — they've been coming back for years, and they bring their families with them.
These tamales taste exactly like my abuela used to make. I drove all the way from Lubbock just to find this place, and I come back every month now.
The pan dulce is unreal. Fresh, sweet, and they have flavors you can't find anywhere else in town. My kids ask for the conchas every weekend.
We ordered 200 tamales for my daughter's quince and they were perfect. Every single one. The mole was rich and the service was wonderful.
Whether you're stopping in for a box of conchas on your way to work or placing a large order for this Sunday's gathering — we're here for you. Walk-ins are always welcome.
